The Wilburn Fellowship is inspired by the life and continuing legacy of the Reverend Dr. Gary A. Wilburn
Reverend Wilburn was the highly esteemed senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan from 1995 until 2007 when he was diagnosed with ALS. After a courageous battle with the dreaded disease, Gary passed away in 2010.
Despite his failing health, Gary lived life to the fullest each day with hope and love, authored four books and helped launch "One Word. One World" research currently underway at the Yale Divinity School's Center for Faith and Culture. This research is aimed at uncovering and exploring the ethical underpinnings that are shared by all the world's religions.
Gary believed deeply in faith beyond creeds and humanity beyond borders, saying without reservation "we should try to see something beautiful in what is different between us, as something highly desirable, instead of trying to find ways in which we are or should be all the same."
From 1963 when he began his ministry to his last days, Gary's call for justice, respect and inclusivity for people of all faiths, cultures and walks of life never wavered.
Reverend Wilbur had a significant and lasting impact on the many he touched, and his legacy will flourish through the lives he continues to empower to service.
